COURSE DESCRIPTION
Corrosion under insulation (CUI) is caused by the ingress of water into the insulation or around insulation, or in some other manner, which traps water in contact with a metal surface. In the mechanical insulation industry, CUI is a phrase that has been used for many years. It is important to clarify that insulation does not cause corrosion, but corrosion can occur under the insulation.

Our learning objectives of this course are to:

• Identify the basic principles of CUI
• Understand why mitigating is important when discussing CUI
• Understand why an insulation systems approach and maintenance are important in mitigating CUI
